Join us for a discussion on the hiring and retention of the AME workforce

The Canadian Council for Aviation & Aerospace (CCAA) invites you to participate in a data collection, virtual focus-group aimed at better understanding and addressing workforce shortages within the Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME) profession.

As the aviation industry continues to experience increased demand for maintenance services, organizations are facing significant challenges in recruiting and retaining licensed AMEs. These shortages have the potential to impact operational efficiency, workforce sustainability, and future industry growth.

Employment Social Development Canada (ESDC) is prioritizing the development of solutions that will mitigate these ongoing challenges. In advance of our Labour Market Information (LMI) project, CCAA, at the request of ESDC, is speaking with industry leaders about the specific challenges that the industry continues to face within the hiring and retention process of licensed AMEs.

CCAA will compile the findings from these workshops and analyze them to present recommendations on how we can support future workforce development strategies, and training investments. This analysis will also allow us to make policy recommendations aimed at mitigating AME shortages and ensuring the long-term sustainability of the aviation maintenance sector.

We will discuss questions such as:

  • What challenges are you facing when trying to find Aircraft Maintenance Apprentices/Engineers/Technicians?
  • Which of the licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineers are the most challenging to find (M, S, or E)?
  • What barriers do you face when hiring, licensing, or training new entrants or experienced foreign workers?

Your participation and expertise are an important part of this process. We hope you take advantage of this unique opportunity to convey your challenges as we recommend practical solutions to the Federal government to address current and future workforce needs.
